Saoirse Ronan will not be starring in Peter Jackson‘s The Hobbit after all. She revealed the news during an interview with the Belfast Telegraph, saying that she won’t star in the the long rumoured role of the Elf Itaril in the upcoming films.

Here is an excerpt from the interview:

It’s probably not going to work out with The Hobbit unfortunately.

Because I would have been working for about a year on it and there were other projects that I was very interested in.

This begs the question if Itaril has been cut out of the film, or if someone else will be starring in the role. I am not surprised with this news, especially since we reported earlier that Ronan was cast in The Host.
